CM Rekha Gupta inaugurated 25 new Atal canteens: 25 new Atal canteens started in Delhi from August 16, on the death anniversary of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu and Delhi CM Rekha Gupta inaugurated 25 new Atal canteens. On this occasion, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced that the resolve to set up 100 Atal canteens has been fulfilled. During this, CM Rekha Gupta and Venkaiah Naidu also ate food sitting in the canteen.
While sharing the image of the inauguration of Atal Canteen on social media, CM Rekha Gupta wrote – The resolution of 100 Atal Canteens taken on the birth anniversary of revered Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji on 25 December 2025 was fulfilled today on his death anniversary. Honorable Former Vice President @MVenkaiahNaidu Ji inaugurated 25 new Atal canteens from Timarpur and dedicated them to the service of the people of Delhi.
He further wrote – From today, through these 100 Atal canteens, nutritious food will be available to about 1 lakh workers and needy families for just ₹ 5 every day. Along with this, our government has fulfilled another promise made to the people of Delhi. On this occasion, many dignitaries including MP Manoj Tiwari, Cabinet colleague Ashish Sood, MLA Surya Prakash Khatri were present.
Atal canteen opened outside Safdarjung and AIIMS also
Delhi government has also started 'Atal Canteen' outside AIIMS (AIIMS) and Safdarjung Hospital. Now the families of patients coming from far away places will not have to wander for food. Delhi's PWD Minister Pravesh Verma, who attended the inauguration ceremony here, said that the opening of this canteen outside Safdarjung and AIIMS hospitals on the death anniversary of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee is a true tribute to him. With these new branches, now a total of 100 Atal Canteens have been successfully operationalized across Delhi. Pravesh Verma said that instead of keeping the food completely free, a fee of only ₹ 5 has been kept so that the self-esteem and self-respect of the people coming here is not hurt and they can have nutritious and hearty food with respect.
