Read Entertainment Desk. Actor Sunny Deol has spoken about his decision to stay away from advertisements of pan masala and gutkha. He said that he does not want to promote something in which he does not believe. The actor said that he has turned down such offers because his conscience does not allow him to promote products that he does not endorse.

During a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, the actor was asked about not appearing in such advertisements. To this he said, “I don't do pan masala advertisements and I never will. I won't do any such thing. Offers come but I don't do it. I don't want to do anything in which I don't believe in. I don't believe in all these things. I don't think it is a good thing to promote it. I don't do a lot of things because my conscience doesn't allow me to do them, and I do the things that I feel are right.”

Apart from this, the actor was also asked about not appearing in the advertisements. He was asked giving the example of stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Ajay Devgan, who have appeared in many advertisements.

The 68-year-old actor said, “If I represent India and represent everything else, somehow the advertisements don't come to me. Why they don't come to me, I have no idea.” “Just as films were not coming earlier, I don't know anything about advertisements.”

This statement of the 'Gadar' fame actor has come when Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued a show cause notice to Bollywood actors Ajay Devgan, Shahrukh Khan and Tiger Shroff for their 'Vimal Elaichi' advertisement. The regulator claims that this advertisement is surrogate advertising (indirect advertisement) for 'Vimal Pan Masala', which is banned in the state.

Maharashtra FDA has intensified action against the sale and promotion of tobacco and pan masala in the state, bringing these three actors under the regulator's scanner.

The notice issued this week seeks clarification from Devgan, Khan and Shroff about their role in the advertisement. According to the FDA, this advertisement creates an association with the brand 'Vimal Pan Masala' and may fall within the scope of indirect promotion under the 'Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006'.
