Lucknow : Former Uttar Pradesh DGP and current Bharatiya Janata Party MP Brij Lal on Sunday issued a stern warning against what he called “intellectual Naxals”, saying they were a bigger threat to the country than militants operating in forest areas.

MP Brij Lal claimed that these people work in urban areas and use mental influence instead of weapons to spread “violent ideology”. Brij Lal said that today I want to talk about 'mindful Naxal'. They do not live in forests or remote wooded areas. They do not carry weapons or fire bullets. They rely entirely on their intelligence.” During this, he told more about the professional background of these people, and mentioned their presence in different influential sections of the society.
'Mental Naxalites' are more dangerous than Naxalites
The MP said that they are found working in cities as professors, teachers, NGO heads, intellectuals, poets and writers. They write articles and organize conferences and seminars, where they inculcate their violent ideology in the minds of common people, especially the youth. He said the intellectual nature of their operations makes them more difficult to counter than traditional insurgents. Therefore, they are much more dangerous than the forest-dwelling Naxalites, a group that has already been largely wiped out.
The aim of 'brainy Naxalites' is to weaken democracy.

According to MP Brij Lal, the main objective of these groups is to weaken public confidence in the pillars of Indian democracy. He said that they sow the seeds of distrust among the people regarding our Democratic Institutions, Judiciary, Security Forces and the Constitution. They infiltrate the youth, and try to lead them towards violent acts through mind manipulation.
It is necessary to spread awareness against 'mindful Naxalites'
Brij Lal also appealed to increase awareness and caution among people to prevent such thinking from spreading in urban areas. He said that therefore we should be cautious of these 'brainy Naxalites', because these are the same people who praise Naxalites, write about them and collect funds to maintain an atmosphere of anarchy in the country.
