Tezzbuzz Desk- Sunny Deol and Preity Zinta's film 'Bantwara 1947' has made a huge jump at the box office on the second day. The film benefited from the Independence Day holiday and its earnings more than doubled from the first day. However, the film is currently lagging behind in competition with Emraan Hashmi's 'Awarapan 2' at the box office.
Sunny Deol's 'Bantwara 1947' was released in theaters on August 14. There was discussion about this film directed by Rajkumar Santoshi even before its release. The film had a slow start on the first day, but saw a huge jump in its collections on the second day.
Collection of Rs 13.50 crore on the second day
According to SACNL data, 'Partition 1947' had earned around Rs 5.75 crore in India on the first day of its release. After this, on Saturday i.e. 15th August, the film did a business of around Rs 13.50 crore. In this way, the film's earnings on the second day were more than double that of the first day. The Independence Day holiday is being considered a major reason for this jump in the film's collection.
Earned Rs 19.25 crore in two days
With the earning of Rs 5.75 crore on the first day and Rs 13.50 crore on the second day, the total collection of two days of 'Partition 1947' has reached to Rs 19.25 crore. Now Sunday is an important day for the film. Due to the benefit of holiday, increase in business is expected on the third day also. In the coming days, the real pace of the film will be clear from its weekend collection.
There is direct competition with 'Awarapan 2'
Along with 'Bantwara 1947', Emraan Hashmi's 'Awarapan 2' is also releasing in theaters on August 14. There is a direct competition between the two films at the box office. According to the available data, 'Awarapan 2' had collected around Rs 22 crore on the first day. On the second day, the film's earnings increased to Rs 33.75 crore. In this way, Emraan Hashmi's film has done a business of around Rs 55.75 crore in two days.
'Partition 1947' is far behind 'Awarapan 2'
If we compare the two-day collections of both the films, 'Bantwara 1947' is lagging behind with Rs 19.25 crore, while 'Awarapan 2' has crossed the figure of Rs 55.75 crore. However, the positive thing for 'Partition 1947' is that there has been a big jump in its earnings on the second day. Now, how much the film is able to attract the audience to the theaters on Sunday and in the coming days, its box office hold will be judged.

Preity Zinta is in the lead role with Sunny Deol in 'Bantwara 1947'. Karan Deol is also a part of the film and he plays the role of Sunny Deol's son in it. Apart from this, actors like Ali Fazal, Kanika Kapoor, Shabana Azmi and Abhimanyu Singh are also seen in important roles.
The film is produced by Aamir Khan and directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Its story is based on Asghar Wajahat's famous Hindi play 'Jis Lahore Nayi Vekhya, O Jamya E Nayi'.
