New Delhi: Gulf and Muslim countries have expressed strong displeasure over Israel’s rejection of US President Donald Trump’s new plan to end the war in Gaza. On Sunday, nine countries issued a joint statement saying that Israel’s decision could set back peace efforts.

9 countries issued joint statement

9 countries including Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Türkiye, Pakistan, Indonesia came together to criticize Israel. These countries say that Trump’s plan was an important step towards stopping the conflict, which should not be rejected. The statement said, “Israel’s rejection of the plan would harm US efforts to end the ongoing war in Gaza.”

“Efforts to end the war threatened”

These countries clearly said that at this time when diplomatic talks are going on, rejecting the plan will worsen the atmosphere further. They argue that the Trump administration was working quickly to end the Gaza conflict, and Israel’s denial could derail that entire process.

In the statement, all nine countries also reiterated their collective support for the ongoing efforts to end the conflict. Also appealed to Israel to reconsider the peace proposal.

United stance of Gulf + Muslim countries

The special thing this time was that not only Arab countries, but also Türkiye, Pakistan and Indonesia joined in this condemnation. Egypt, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE are already active on the Gaza issue.

Now with the joining of Türkiye, Pakistan and Indonesia, this protest has gained more weight. In a joint statement, these countries said that the condition of civilians in Gaza is continuously deteriorating. Rejecting any peace initiative at such a time will further aggravate the humanitarian crisis.

What next?

At present, the diplomatic race is going on regarding Gaza. A Hamas delegation is also holding talks in Cairo. But after Israel’s tough stance and now the condemnation of 9 countries, it is clear that it will not be easy to reach a consensus on a peace plan. The Trump administration can now make a new attempt to persuade Israel after pressure from these countries. But the question is, will Israel change its decision?
