Today is a significant day for the lakhs of candidates who appeared for the UGC NET June 2026 exam. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has released the provisional answer key and response sheet on August 16, 2026. The answer key has been made available online on the official NTA website, ugcnet.nta.nic.in.
**Opportunity to challenge the answer key until August 18**
After downloading the answer key, you can cross-check your responses against it. If you are dissatisfied with any of the answers provided, you can submit an objection against the answer key until August 18. Candidates are required to pay a fee of ₹200 to challenge each answer in the key.
**How to download the answer key**
Candidates who took the exam can download the answer key and response sheet online by logging into the official website using their credentials. The answer key will not be provided individually or offline. You can easily download it by following the steps below:
Visit the website ugcnet.nta.nic.in to download the UGC NET June 2026 answer key.
On the website's homepage, click on the link titled "Challenge of Provisional Answer Keys for UGC-NET June 2026" under the 'Latest News' section.
Next, enter your application number, password, and the provided captcha code.
The answer key will then open on the screen, allowing you to download it.
Candidates should note that the exam was conducted for 87 subjects. The answer keys for three subjects—English, Commerce, and Sociology—have not been released due to errors found in their question papers. Answer keys for the remaining 84 subjects have been made available. The answer keys for the three pending subjects will be released separately soon.
**Experts to prepare the final answer key**
Objections raised against the provisional answer key will be reviewed by a team of experts constituted by the NTA. Subsequently, the experts will prepare the final answer key. The candidates' results will be prepared and released with this in mind. The results are likely to be declared by the end of this month.
It is worth noting that the UGC NET exam was conducted at designated centers across the country on June 22, 23, 24, 25, 29, and 30, 2026, as well as on July 5, 2026, including at the CT Group of Institutions exam center in Jalandhar.
