New Delhi: Vande has filed a police complaint against Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi over Mataram. This complaint has been filed by Supreme Court lawyer Shubh Sharma on August 16 in Delhi’s IP Estate area. The complaint has been filed regarding the Independence Day program on August 15 at the Congress headquarters.
Sonia Gandhi made the gesture in the midst of Vande Mataram
The complaint alleges that during the Vande Mataram, Sonia Gandhi made a gesture that raised objections to the continuation of the song. The complaint also mentions a video of Rahul Gandhi, in which he is allegedly seen saying that we are not singing Vande Mataram.
Demand action against those responsible
The complainant has demanded investigation into the matter and registration of complaint against both. The complaint also alleges a legal provision to deliberately stopping the singing of the national anthem or obstructing the programme. Shubh Sharma has demanded the police to investigate the matter impartially and take action against the responsible people.
Investigation underway – DCP Central
A statement has been issued by DCP Central regarding this complaint. “The complaint is being investigated regarding an alleged incident during the singing of Vande Mataram during the Independence Day celebrations organized at the Congress headquarters on August 15, 2026,” the police department said.
BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) has filed a complaint against Congress leaders
Meanwhile, the Odisha unit of the BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM) on Sunday filed a complaint at the Kharvel Nagar police station against Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi for insulting Vande Mataram during Independence Day celebrations.
Congress leaders committed a punishable offence
BJP Yuva Morcha state president Abhilash Panda said the party has demanded action against Congress leaders for allegedly “insulting” and obstructing the singing of the national anthem. “By insulting Vande Mataram and obstructing its singing, they have committed a punishable offence,” Panda alleged.
The Congress Party issued a clarification
Meanwhile, the Congress party denied the allegation, saying that no attempt was made to stop the national anthem. The party said that Sonia Gandhi was only requesting a seat for Kharge, as he had been standing for some time.
BJP opposition
Meanwhile, workers of BJP’s Bhubaneswar district unit took out a silent march from the state party office to Congress Bhavan at Master Canteen Square. BJP workers alleged that the behavior of Congress leaders had hurt the sentiments of people across the country.
