Ukraine's biggest ever drone attack on Russia, claims 822 drones; Lakshmi Mittal's factory affected in retaliatory missile attack

New Delhi. On Sunday, Ukraine targeted many parts of Russia with hundreds of drones amid the Russia-Ukraine War. According to the Russian Defense Ministry, 822 Ukrainian drones were destroyed overnight. At least six people are reported to have died in this attack. It is being described as one of the largest air strikes in Ukraine since the start of the war.

On the other hand, Russia also launched retaliatory missile strikes in Ukraine. In these attacks, there is news of damage to the Kryvyi Rih factory belonging to the ArcelorMittal group of Indian industrialist Lakshmi Mittal. The company has stopped some activities on the site after the attack.

About 600 drones were moving towards Moscow

Russia's Defense Ministry claimed that its air defense systems shot down 822 Ukrainian drones overnight. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, about 600 drones were heading towards the capital Moscow. About one-third of these drones were destroyed over the Moscow region.

Due to the attack, there was chaos in many areas. There have also been reports of fires and damage to infrastructure due to drone strikes in some areas of Russia.

    Five killed in Ukraine in Russia's retaliatory attack

    Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that several areas were targeted in the Russian missile attacks. Two people died and 14 were injured in Kryvyi Rih. One person died in Sumy, while a man and a woman lost their lives in Southern Zaporozhye.

    Zelensky accused Russia of targeting infrastructure in areas within reach of its ballistic missiles.

    Damage to Lakshmi Mittal's company's factory

    The site affected by the Russian missile attack is ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih, part of Indian industrialist Lakshmi Mittal's ArcelorMittal group. According to media reports, the company has confirmed that one of its sites has been damaged in the Russian attack.

    After the attack, the company has temporarily stopped some work in the factory. However, the actual extent of the damage is not yet clear and it is also not known when production activities will be completely normal.

    Fire breaks out in warehouse in Podolsk, Russia

    The effect of Ukraine's drone attacks was also visible in the Russian city of Podolsk. A fire broke out in a warehouse of online retail company Wildberries here. Three cities in the Rostov region of south-western Russia were also reported to have been targeted by drone strikes.

    According to regional governor Yuri Slyusar, the area was attacked by more than 150 drones. Five people died in the attack and several houses and a railway station were damaged. A fire broke out in the forest, making the situation in the area more serious.

    It has been almost four years since the war between Russia and Ukraine. Both sides continue to carry out large-scale drone and missile attacks and Sunday's events have once again highlighted the growing aerial intensity of the conflict.
