Dhaka. Reiterating his hope to resolve any issues through high-level meetings and talks, Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Dinesh Trivedi on Sunday night said he felt Bangladesh Prime Minister Tariq Rahman’s visit to India “should happen very soon.”

“The issues can be resolved only through meetings and talks, and I am optimistic about that. Our hearts are very close and I want to see the beginning of a golden chapter in Bangladesh-India relations,” he said, according to Bangladeshi news agency UNB.

Speaking at a welcome dinner hosted by Masood Jamil Khan, Honorary Consul of Ireland in Bangladesh, and his wife Kate Jarrow Khan, Trivedi said that Bangladesh and India do not just share a border; They actually share a dream.

The Indian envoy said that Bangladesh and India are two sovereign countries. “There is no doubt that we have many challenges and also recognize that if you do not have challenges, then it is not a democracy. Even if there are many problems in this system!”

According to him, even though there are differences between the two countries and they have their own arguments regarding them, still we want that not only the people of India-Bangladesh but the entire world should look at us with respect and honor. He further said, “Efforts for this are ongoing and I sincerely wish that a golden era begins between India and Bangladesh.”

According to Trivedi, both Prime Minister Tariq Rehman and Prime Minister Narendra Modi are public leaders. He said, “I have said many times in the media, wherever I have been asked, that when two such leaders meet and talk, there is no problem left, no issue which cannot be communicated and resolved.”
