New Delhi, 17 August 2026: Congress MP and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has written an important letter to Chief Minister Hemant Soren amid the students' agitation against alleged irregularities in the recruitment examinations in Jharkhand. Rahul Gandhi has requested the Chief Minister to seriously consider the demands of the agitating students and meet them face to face to resolve the remaining concerns. He has said that the youth should be listened to and appropriate steps should be taken by the government on this issue.
Rahul Gandhi has said in the letter that the Congress Party believes that the right to peaceful protest given in the Constitution is one of the main pillars of democracy. Congress has full support for the students who have been protesting against paper leaks and alleged irregularities in the education system for the last few months. He has appreciated the efforts of the Jharkhand government to initiate dialogue with the students. However, some students are still on agitation and are sitting on indefinite fast. Rahul Gandhi has requested Chief Minister Hemant Soren to personally meet the representatives of the agitating students. The personal visit of the Chief Minister will help in removing the remaining concerns of the students and strengthening their confidence in the government.
The students' agitation has been going on in Ranchi for more than 20 days. Recently, effigies of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav were burnt by the protesting students, after which the Jharkhand government has once again invited the students for talks. Several rounds of meetings have been held between the government and students in the past, but no concrete solution has been reached so far.
