Is Fadnavis leaving Maharashtra and going to Delhi? Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has had a very important meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. This meeting has taken place at a time when Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its new national team and on the other hand, speculations about a major reshuffle in the Union Cabinet are quite intense. After this high-profile meeting, rumors started spreading rapidly in the political circles that Fadnavis may leave the post of Chief Minister of Maharashtra and enter national politics and take up some big responsibility in the Central Government. However, Fadnavis has rejected all these discussions outright.
Fadnavis's jibe at speculations – 'Let people enjoy' While talking to the media after the Delhi tour, Devendra Fadnavis completely denied the news of joining national politics. He clarified that the main objective of his Delhi visit was to give impetus to many important development projects of Maharashtra. After meeting Prime Minister Modi, he told journalists that the people of Maharashtra and the central leadership of BJP have entrusted him with the responsibility of the state, he will continue to fulfill it with full dedication. Fadnavis quipped, “Whether I am in Delhi or Mumbai, people keep speculating. I think many people have nothing better to do, so they enjoy discussing about me. Let them enjoy.”
'I am in Mumbai only and will continue to serve the state' Reiterating his point, the Chief Minister said that the trust of the public and PM Modi is with him and he will continue to serve Maharashtra. When he was asked about the new national team of BJP, he said that due to being busy in the meeting, he has not seen the complete list at the moment. He further said that if someone from Maharashtra has got a place in the organization then it is a matter of great happiness and he will talk about it in detail after seeing the list. Fadnavis said he had come to Delhi to discuss important issues of the state like infrastructure, industrial development and approvals pending with the Centre. When asked who was behind the rumors of sending him to Delhi, he smiled and said, “Many people think I should go to Delhi, but I tell everyone that I am right here in Mumbai.”
The murmur of reshuffle in the Union Cabinet intensifies Let us tell you that the news of change in Modi cabinet has been very hot for the last few months. Earlier it was being said that there would be no reshuffle before the monsoon session of Parliament, but as soon as the session ended, these discussions have gained momentum again. The main reason behind this reshuffle is the many vacant posts. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had resigned amid student protests, while Ravneet Singh Bittu and George Kurien also resigned from their posts after the Rajya Sabha tenure ended on July 24.
Sanjay Raut's claim and Athawale's statement heated up the atmosphere Apart from these vacant posts, some ministers like Harsh Malhotra, Pankaj Choudhary and Piyush Goyal have been given responsibilities of the government as well as the organization, thereby further strengthening the possibilities of cabinet reshuffle. Meanwhile, a statement by Union Minister Ramdas Athawale has further fueled the discussion, in which he said that Sharad Pawar-led NCP can join the NDA and become a part of the central government. It is also worth noting that Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut was the first to claim that Devendra Fadnavis can be included in the central government.
