Chelsea put massive asking price on Pedro Neto amid Saudi interest

Pedro Neto could still leave west London before Deadline Day, but any move will not come cheap.

Chelsea are understood to value the winger at close to £100m and are reluctant to consider a sale for anything less.

Standard Sport had previously reported that Chelsea were not actively trying to sell the 26-year-old this summer. It was also reported last month that the club had not held any concrete talks over a transfer for the player.

Neto has been heavily involved in pre-season since returning from his post-World Cup break. He started all five matches for Portugal as they were knocked out in the last 16, recording no goals and one assist.

Chelsea have still not received a formal bid for the player this summer. Reports last month claiming Tottenham had asked about Neto’s availability were disputed by sources close to both clubs.

Xabi Alonso tested Neto in a new position as Chelsea wrapped up their pre-season programme with a win over Real Sociedad, deploying him as a right wing-back in a back-three system. Whether that develops into a permanent role for him this season remains unclear.

Neto joined Chelsea from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2024 for £54m and signed a seven-year contract. Since then, he has made 103 appearances for the club, registering 19 goals and 19 assists.

He was a regular in the Chelsea side throughout the difficult 2025/26 campaign, featuring 52 times.
