This proposed transfer is creating a major stir among supporters. After Borussia Dortmund withdrew from the race for El-Mala, the club now appears to have identified a replacement. Giannis Konstantelias is reportedly already in Dortmund to complete his medical. This has been reported consistently by Sky journalist Florian Plettenberg as well as several Greek media outlets.
The development has triggered strong anger among fans of his current club. PAOK supporters gathered outside the stadium with pyrotechnics to express their frustration.
A banner carrying the word "Occupation" was also put up outside the club offices. In a symbolic move, the fans are trying to block access while demanding direct communication and explanations from club owner Ivan Savvidis.
The ultras are said to be determined not to allow their key player to leave. Even so, the transfer appears to be moving ever closer. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has already delivered his trademark "Here we go."
Borussia Dortmund are expected to pay a transfer fee of 32 million euros, including bonuses. PAOK will also retain a 15 percent sell-on clause.
