Mumbai: Kannada superstar Yash has spoken about the intense fanaticism among some of his fans, saying people should not waste their time or lives following film stars.
The actor also recalled a tragic incident involving a fan who reportedly died by suicide after being unable to meet him. Speaking on Aap Ki Adalat, Yash explained why he eventually stopped meeting fans who gather outside his home every year on his birthday, January 8.
Yash recalls disturbing incidents
Yash said he initially enjoyed meeting fans outside his home. As his popularity grew, however, he began witnessing incidents that made him uncomfortable.
“I used to meet them initially. As you’re growing, you feel good that people love you so much. But a lot of incidents began happening,” he said.
The actor indicated that his decision to stop meeting fans was influenced by the seriousness of some of these incidents.
Actor asks fans to value their own lives
Yash has previously spoken about the need for fans to maintain a healthy perspective towards celebrities. His latest comments underline his concern that excessive admiration should not come at the cost of a person’s own wellbeing or future.
The actor’s remarks come as he continues to enjoy a huge following, particularly after the success of the KGF franchise.
While fan celebrations have become a regular part of celebrity culture, Yash’s comments serve as a reminder that admiration should not turn into behaviour that puts anyone at risk.
He urged fans to focus on their own lives rather than treating celebrities as the centre of their existence.
