Re-examinations for the UGC-NET June 2026 cycle will be conducted for the subjects of English, Commerce, and Sociology. The National Testing Agency (NTA) took this decision after discovering numerous errors in the question papers for these three subjects. Candidates will not be charged any additional fee for these re-examinations. The NTA has released the exam schedule.
According to the NTA, factual, typographical, translation, and grammatical errors were found in the papers for these three subjects. Additionally, flaws such as issues with the wording of certain questions, incorrect spellings of scholars' names and book titles, repeated questions, and the use of non-standard terminology for established concepts were identified.
**Re-examination Schedule (September)**
English: September 9, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
Commerce: September 9, 2026, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
Sociology: September 10, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM
**Results for 84 Subjects on Schedule**
The NTA has also clarified that the results for the 84 subjects currently undergoing the answer key challenge process will be declared according to the original schedule. The re-examination of the three subjects will not impact the processes related to JRF, Assistant Professor eligibility, and PhD admissions for these 84 subjects.
For the three subjects being re-conducted, seat allocation for JRF, Assistant Professor positions, and PhD admissions will be carried out in accordance with the provisions outlined in the information bulletin.
**Admit Card Details to be Released on Website**
The number of candidates qualifying for Assistant Professor eligibility will be 6% of the total. This figure will be based on the higher number of candidates derived from either the original June 2026 exam or the re-examination. The NTA stated that this decision was taken to ensure the fairness, accuracy, and transparency of the examination. Details regarding exam centers, cities, and admit cards will be released on the official website at a later date.
