PM-VBRY: The Central Government's ambitious scheme, 'Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana' (PM-VBRY), is gaining momentum in its mission to integrate the nation's youth into the organized (formal) sector and create new employment opportunities. Launched on August 1, 2025, with a budget of ₹99,446 crore, the scheme will remain in effect until July 31, 2027. Its primary objective is to generate employment for over 3.5 crore people, including 1.92 crore youth entering the workforce for the first time.

₹15,000 incentive for first-time employees

Employees joining a job for the first time with a monthly salary of up to ₹1,00,000 are eligible under the scheme. These employees receive a one-time incentive equivalent to one month's EPF-linked salary, capped at a maximum of ₹15,000. This amount is disbursed in two installments: the first upon completion of six months of employment, and the second upon completing 12 months of service and a financial literacy program.

Companies to receive support for every new employee

Financial assistance is also being provided to companies under the scheme. If a company employs new staff members at a salary of up to ₹1 lakh for a minimum of six months, the government provides an incentive of up to ₹3,000 per employee per month for a period of two years. Recognizing the significant employment potential in the manufacturing sector, this benefit has been extended for companies into the third and fourth years as well.

Scheme Outcomes and Digital Process

In the first year of the scheme, over 72 lakh new employees joined the formal sector, with women accounting for approximately 30 percent of this figure. Additionally, more than 15 lakh beneficiaries have received direct benefits. The entire process is managed through digital verification on the EPFO and UMANG apps. All benefits are transferred directly to bank accounts via Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

How to Apply?

The application process for PM-VBRY is entirely online. Employers must visit the official PM-VBRY portal, log in using their EPFO credentials, and update their PAN-linked bank account details. Meanwhile, first-time employees need to download the UMANG app and generate their Universal Account Number (UAN) using face authentication. Subsequently, the employer must submit the details of eligible employees on the portal. Upon completion of six months of continuous employment, the first installment is transferred directly to the employee's Aadhaar-linked account.
