In this case, on July 11, 2025, Justice R.I. Chagla had given an interim order. The court had said that the name ‘Sonu Nigam’ is now strongly linked to the identity of the singer. The court had banned the use of the name ‘Sonu Nigam’ alone as a display name or account name on social media. However, Sonu Nigam Singh was allowed to use his full name, provided it did not create any confusion.
