Bollywood Mascot: Shah Rukh Khan’s iconic Mumbai residence Mannat had an unexpected visitor this week. Two snakes were reportedly spotted inside the property’s premises, triggering a rescue operation at the superstar’s Bandra home.
According to reports, the incident took place on August 17, when the snakes were noticed on the lawn of Mannat. A snake rescuer was subsequently called to the property to safely remove the reptiles.
The rescue operation resulted in one of the snakes being successfully caught. The reptile was reportedly around eight feet long and was identified as a Dhaman, or Indian rat snake. Importantly, the species is non-venomous, which came as a relief to the security staff and other people at the property.
The second snake, however, proved more difficult to locate. Reports suggest that it slipped away when people started moving around the premises. Despite a search operation continuing later in the evening, the second reptile could not be traced.
The unusual incident comes during Mumbai’s monsoon season, when snakes can sometimes move into human settlements while searching for dry and secure spaces. A report from Maharashtra also noted that heavy rainfall has led to more snake sightings as natural habitats and burrows become waterlogged.
For the staff at Mannat, the identification of the rescued snake as a non-venomous Dhaman was particularly reassuring. The reptile was reportedly found taking shelter beneath a staircase before being safely rescued and released into its natural habitat.
Mannat, officially known as Mannat Land’s End, is one of Mumbai’s most recognisable celebrity residences. Located in Bandra, the sea-facing property regularly attracts fans who gather outside hoping to catch a glimpse of Shah Rukh Khan.
The actor himself is currently preparing for his upcoming action thriller King, which is scheduled for release on December 24, 2026. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand and features an ensemble cast including Deepika Padukone, Abhishek Bachchan and Suhana Khan.
While the presence of two snakes at a celebrity mansion may sound unusual, the incident ultimately ended without reported harm. One snake was safely rescued, while the search for the second continued after it disappeared from the property.
