Ibrahim Mbaye decides preferred next club amid Manchester United and Liverpool interest

Ibrahim Mbaye is being strongly tipped to leave Paris Saint-Germain this summer, with Old Trafford long seen as one of the most realistic destinations for him.

Paris Saint-Germain’s decision to push hard in the market and bring in multiple attacking players has reportedly left the winger worried about his prospects at the Parc des Princes.

Ambitious and eager to establish himself, the Senegal international is understood to want a new challenge elsewhere, and PSG may now have limited room to stand in the way of an exit.

The wide player has attracted no shortage of attention. Manchester United and Liverpool are among several leading European clubs monitoring his situation closely.

Although the transfer battle remains under scrutiny with deadline day drawing near, a notable development has surfaced just days after claims that Liverpool had withdrawn from the race.

According to French outlet RMC Sport: “Ibrahim Mbaye has made his choice clear: he wants to join Liverpool. An agreement has been reached between the Senegalese winger and the English club for a five-year contract.”

With personal terms now apparently agreed, the move depends on Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool managing to finalise a deal between the clubs.

If that report is correct and Liverpool have succeeded in persuading Mbaye to commit to them, Manchester United seem unlikely to launch a late move to hijack the transfer, especially considering how they have handled this transfer window so far.

INEOS have repeatedly shown that they prefer players who are fully committed to their project. Mateus Fernandes is one example. He had the opportunity to reject Tottenham Hotspur and potentially encourage United into making a major financial push, but instead chose Spurs.

INEOS therefore decided against trying to outbid the North London club.

With Mbaye now seemingly having agreed terms with Liverpool, United are not expected to chase the deal aggressively. Signing a winger is no longer their leading priority. Instead, the Manchester club are focusing on bringing in a midfielder and a left-back before the window closes.

That said, if Marcus Rashford leaves, with Barcelona once again interested in the Manchester-born forward, the Red Devils could still be forced to revisit the market for a winger.

Overall credibility: 8/10 Why?

We believe Liverpool may well have reached an agreement with Mbaye over this move, but the contest for his signature is not over yet, with no club-to-club agreement in place so far.
