UP-Japan investment meet started, more than 200 businessmen arrived

New Delhi. Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday welcomed Japan’s Yamanashi Prefecture Governor Kotaro Nagasaki.

Governor Nagasaki is leading a high-level delegation of more than 200 Japanese CEOs, business leaders, industry representatives and policy-makers. This delegation has come to India to participate in the UP-Japan Investment Meet 2026.

The five-day event began with a welcome dinner hosted in honor of the Japanese delegation in New Delhi.

The objective of this program is to convert Japan’s growing investment interest in Uttar Pradesh into investment, technical partnership, manufacturing projects and employment opportunities.

India-Japan economic relations will get strengthened: Piyush Goyal
Welcoming the Japanese delegation, Union Minister Piyush Goyal highlighted the strong India-Japan economic ties and the growing opportunities available for Japanese companies in India.

He said that Uttar Pradesh’s improving infrastructure, skilled workforce and investment friendly environment provide better opportunities for global expansion of Japanese companies.

UP committed to long-term partnership with Japanese investors: Yogi
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that Uttar Pradesh is committed to long-term partnership with Japanese investors.

World-class infrastructure, skilled talent and investment-friendly policies provide a strong base for Japanese companies to invest, expand and create jobs in the region.

The Chief Minister said that this partnership is in line with the vision of making Uttar Pradesh a trillion dollar economy. In this, Japan will play an important role in manufacturing and technology-based development.

Economic and institutional relations will be strengthened: Nagasaki
Yamanashi Governor Kotaro Nagasaki said that this visit will prove helpful in strengthening economic and institutional relations between Yamanashi and Uttar Pradesh. He stressed the possibilities of cooperation in areas like clean energy, technology, skill development and tourism.

Events will be held in five cities till August 23
Organized by Invest UP from August 18 to 23, this five-day event will be organized in New Delhi, Lucknow, Agra, Greater Noida and Varanasi.

The main UP-Japan Investment Meet will be held in Lucknow on August 21, which will include G2B and B2B sessions. During this period, manufacturing, automobile, semiconductor, green energy, digital infrastructure, skill development and tourism will be the major cooperation areas.

This event, with the participation of more than 200 Japanese business leaders, is being considered an important step towards providing new momentum to the investment-based partnership between Uttar Pradesh and Japan.
