Vehicle manufacturer Skoda Auto India is going to officially launch the facelift version of its popular mid-size sedan car Skoda Slavia in the Indian market today. Coming under mid-life update, this sedan car will be added with cosmetic changes along with many new cabin features and a new transmission option.

What is changing in the design and cabin?
According to the teaser released by the company, newness will be seen in the profile of the front grille and bumper of the Skoda Slavia facelift. Profiled LED headlights and revised LED tail-lamps are being provided at the front and rear. Along with this, new alloy wheel design and illuminated Skoda badging can be seen on the rear boot lid.
Comfort features like a 10.25-inch fully digital driver display, updated upholstery, front parking sensors and rear-seat massage function can be added inside the cabin. The existing 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, ventilated front seats, single-pane sunroof and wireless charger have been retained.
Mechanical Update: New 8-speed automatic transmission
On the powertrain front, the Slavia facelift will continue to get the existing 1.0-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine options. The biggest change has been made to the 1.0-litre TSI petrol engine (115 hp), where the old 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox has now been replaced by a new 8-speed automatic transmission. The 1.5-litre TSI engine (150 hp) will continue to be available with the option of 6-speed manual and 7-speed DSG automatic.

Potential price and competition
The current Skoda Slavia ex-showroom prices go from ₹10 lakh to ₹18.19 lakh. Due to the new features added to the facelift model and the gearbox update, its starting ex-showroom price is expected to be around ₹ 10.50 lakh to ₹ 11.50 lakh. After its launch in the market, it will compete directly with sedan cars like Honda City, Hyundai Verna and Volkswagen Virtus.
