Arsenal appear to have joined a three-way battle to sign one of European football's most highly regarded talent spotters.
The Gunners are looking to strengthen their recruitment set-up by bringing in one of the leading scouts in European football.
As per a report by Sky Germany journalist Patrick Berger, Arsenal are preparing to compete with two of their Premier League rivals for Borussia Dortmund's Sebastian Krug.
Newcastle United, now managed by German head coach Matthias Jaissle, and Tottenham Hotspur are the other clubs said to be interested in the Dortmund chief scout.
Krug is understood to have built a strong reputation for identifying talent in the Bundesliga.
During his time at Signal Iduna Park, he is believed to have played a direct role in the deals that brought two generational talents, Erling Haaland and Jude Bellingham, to the German club.
Both players joined Dortmund as hugely promising youngsters before developing into world-class stars and later commanding massive transfer fees from Manchester City and Real Madrid respectively.
Arsenal's interest in Krug comes as the north London side aim to build on the momentum that saw them end their 22-year Premier League title drought last season, while also reaching the Champions League Final.
Having re-established themselves as regular Premier League title challengers and frequent participants in the latter stages of the Champions League, the Gunners now seem intent on sharpening their advantage in youth scouting and recruitment.
Krug has been in the chief scout role since September 2022, having previously worked under Markus Pilawa, who left four years ago to take up a similar position at Bayern Munich.
