Bradley Cooper and Monica Barbaro have begun filming their highly anticipated Ocean’s Eleven prequel as production officially kicks off.
On Tuesday, August 18, the latest behind-the-scenes photos captured the 51-year-old actor and filmmaker in action on the Paris set, sporting a headset, while the 36-year-old actress received a quick hair adjustment before filming.
Cooper joined the project as both writer and director after Lee Isaac Chung departed earlier this year, sources confirmed to PEOPLE in March 2026.
He shares the screen with Margot Robbie, who joined the project in 2022 after her team announced that she and director Jay Roach were working on an original Ocean’s movie set in the 1960s.
The star-studded cast also includes Vicky Krieps, George MacKay, Jack Holden, Lauren Ridloff, Omar Sy, Wagner Moura and Josh Gad.
Set during the 1963 Monaco Grand Prix, the prequel will reportedly center on Danny Ocean’s parents, played by Cooper and Robbie, while Moura takes on the role of the antagonist.
During her CinemaCon appearance in April, the Barbie star teased a younger look at Danny Ocean’s parents, saying audiences will see them “in their prime.”
The prequel’s production comes nearly a year after George Clooney, the longtime Ocean’s lead, revealed in October 2025 that he and several original cast members were looking to film Ocean’s Fourteen before the end of 2026.
In a previous interview with Variety in December 2025 about the possibility of returning to the franchise, Clooney, 65, said: “There was something about the idea that we’re too old to do what we used to do, but we’re still smart enough to know how to get away with something, that just appeals to me.”
When is the Ocean’s Eleven prequel coming to theaters?
The untitled film is slated for a theatrical release on June 25, 2027.
