The political dispute between Congress and BJP regarding Vande Mataram has intensified. BJP MP and senior leader Ravi Shankar Prasad hit out at the Congress, alleging that the party was adopting a double standard regarding the national anthem and the legacy of the freedom movement.

BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad also targeted Sonia Gandhi in a press conference at the Congress headquarters. He alleged that during the program it seemed that Sonia Gandhi was objecting to the entire singing of Vande Mataram. However, a different explanation was given later by the Congress.

Ravi Shankar rejected the explanation given by the Congress media chief that Sonia Gandhi was only arranging a chair for Kharge, this argument is completely wrong.

BJP MPs then also mentioned a Congress program in Goa. He said that there too only two stanzas of Vande Mataram were sung. Linking it to the alleged ideology and attitude of the Congress, Prasad raised the question as to what is the party's view on the national anthem.

He said that if Congress continues to carry out such activities then it should stop claiming monopoly over India's freedom movement. According to Prasad, Vande Mataram has been the national song that played an important role in the country's freedom movement and its historical role should not be seen on the basis of political convenience.

Ravi Shankar Prasad also responded to Mallikarjun Kharge's questions in which questions are raised on the role of BJP leaders in the freedom movement.

Giving the example of Dr. Rajendra Prasad, he said that he was one of the prominent leaders of the freedom movement, went to jail and later became the first President of the country. The honor given to Vande Mataram at the level of the Constituent Assembly in 1950 should also be mentioned in this historical context.

The BJP MP also made serious allegations against the Congress regarding its old political relations with the Muslim League. Citing the political agreements reached between the Congress and the Muslim League during the period 1936-37, he claimed that the Muslim League's religious sentiments must have been the reason behind the tradition of singing only the first two verses of Vande Mataram.

However, he expressed his views as a possibility in this context and tried to connect the current politics of Congress with that historical period.

Prasad alleged that even today the Congress is compromising its own historical traditions due to so-called 'vote bank' politics. He said that BJP had no role in the creation or production of Vande Mataram, hence the issue should not be seen as a political dispute of BJP versus Congress. According to him, this is a subject to national sentiment and the legacy of the freedom movement.

He said that Prime Minister Modi had not taken the name of anyone among the mental Naxalites, he had only said to be cautious of the mental Naxalites. Amit Shah ji had pledged that we will end Maoism and it has ended today.

Today Naxalism has completely ended in Bastar, Sukma, Maharashtra. The Prime Minister was referring to those people who provide intellectual support to Maoism, write articles in its favor and also provide financial assistance.
