Yash-starrer Toxic is nearing its release amid massive hype. The Geetu Mohandas directorial is aiming for a massive global rollout across many countries. After scoring an 'A' certificate from the Censor Board Of Film Certification in India, Toxic has been certified by the British Board Of Film Certification as well. Rated highly for 'strong bloody violence' and 's*x', the period gangster action-drama is granted an 18+ certificate by the BBFC. However, in what appears to be an error, Toxic is described as a 'Tamil-language' film on the official BBFC website.

On the official website of the BBFC, the description for   reads: "In this Tamil-language actioner, the leader of a powerful drug cartel in Goa sows the seeds of his own destruction." The website also shows that the film has been rated 18+.

However, in the Industry Details section, the Language column reads Kannada. For the unversed, Toxic is a pan-Indian film, shot simultaneously in Kannada and English. It is also being dubbed in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Malayalam.

The page also carries various parameters, out of which Violence, S*x, and Injury Detail are rated 5/5, whereas Threat And Horror, Language, Drugs, S*xual Violence And S*xual Threat, as well as Suicide And Self-Harm have a 4/5 rating.

 

In addition to this, there is a short description for each criterion. The one under Violence reads, "Strong violence includes shootings, stabbings, throat slashings, bludgeonings, torture, hangings, immolations and dismemberments, frequently resulting in large blood spurts and grisly injury detail."

Furthermore, the certification page also shows that Toxic carries "scenes of s*x feature thrusting, as well as instances of erotic asphyxiation. Scenes take place in strip clubs, and there are visual and verbal references to group s*x and other s*xual activities."

It is also mentioned that the film includes scenes relating to misuse of cocaine and cannabis, implied child abuse, people attempting suicide, and strong images of corpses, severed body parts, and bleeding wounds.

Headlined by Yash, Toxic boasts a stellar cast including Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Tara Sutaria, Rukmini Vasanth, Huma Qureshi, Akshay Oberoi, and Sudev Nair, among many others.

Earlier slated to release alongside Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar The Revenge in March, Toxic was moved to June before locking August 26 as its final official release date. The film is jointly produced by Venkat K Narayana's KVN Productions and Yash's Monster Mind Creations.
