Jamal Musiala is currently dealing with health issues. He collapsed on the pitch against RB Leipzig over the weekend and then again against Heidenheim on Tuesday.

This has naturally caused major concern among FC Bayern fans. After the match against Heidenheim, he explained that he is suffering from neurological episodes known as “absences.”

“I’m receiving the best medical care for this and am very optimistic. FC Bayern and my family and friends are always by my side and supporting me on this journey,” Musiala said in a statement after the game.

Even so, questions remain. Will this issue affect his career?

Musiala said on Tuesday: “The important thing is that there is no further health risk. In close consultation and regular communication with the experts, it has been my personal wish to rise to the challenge.”

According to dpa reports, there is cautious optimism inside FC Bayern that Musiala will not only be able to continue his career, but also that there will be no severe restrictions. As things stand, there is nothing to indicate that he will be unable to return to the highest level. For the time being, the crucial point will be adjusting his medication.

At the same time, the fact that the problem occurred twice within such a short span has been taken as a warning sign. This was disclosed by FC Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeneß in an interview with Sky.

“Now, with these two incidents on Saturday and yesterday, it’s obviously a problem—first and foremost, of course, for Jamal himself. Honestly, I go to bed thinking about him and wake up thinking about him,” Hoeneß explained. He again stressed that the player has the full backing of FC Bayern.

Hoeneß also said that there was no health risk and that the club remains in constant contact with specialists.

“The specialists—the neurologists treating him—have assured us in writing that, from their perspective, nothing prevents Jamal from participating in high-performance sports. Since then, we’ve been sleeping a little better at night. But now, to be honest, we have to get used to this new situation. “I’m speechless,” Hoeneß continued. The next steps will now be coordinated closely with the treating physicians.
