Delhi New Electric Bus: Delhi has got the gift of 200 new electric buses. CM Rekha Gupta flagged off the new buses. Also, on this occasion, a special bus service was also started for the women of Delhi. Delhi CM launches 56 Dedicated Ladies Special Electric Bus Services. And 26 special trips were started for girl students. Apart from this, five new AC electric buses will also be started on the interstate route between Delhi and Karnal. With the introduction of these buses, passengers will get better and environment-friendly transportation facilities.
CM Rekha Gupta herself gave information about the operation of these buses on social media. Delhi Chief Minister wrote on Twitter – Today, in the dignified presence of Honorable Lieutenant Governor Shri Taranjit Singh Sandhu, 200 new electric buses were flagged off and dedicated to the service of the people of Delhi from Delhi University Sports Complex. With their addition, the number of electric buses in Delhi has now reached about 5,000.
Delhi CM further wrote- Today is a special day for the women of Delhi also. 56 Dedicated Ladies Special Electric Bus Services have been started, which will provide direct access to major colleges like Hindu College, Ramjas, Daulat Ram, Shri Ram College, LSR, Gargi, Hansraj and SGGSCC. It also marked the beginning of Delhi-Karnal interstate e-bus service and public EV charging station at Rajghat Depot-1. On this occasion, cabinet colleague Dr. Pankaj Kumar Singh ji, MLA Shri Suryaprakash Khatri ji and other dignitaries were present.
56 special trips will run on 28 routes for women
Keeping in mind the safety and convenience of women, 56 ladies special trips will be started in the new bus services. These services will operate on 28 different routes in Delhi. 30 ladies special trips will run on 15 high demand routes of DTC. These routes will connect residential areas to major areas like Nehru Place, AIIMS, South Extension, RK Puram, Connaught Place, ITO, Delhi Secretariat, Karol Bagh, Kashmiri Gate and Shivaji Stadium. Special facility is also being started for girl students studying in universities and colleges of Delhi. Under this, 26 University Ladies Special trips will be run on 13 routes.
The number of buses in Delhi's public transport fleet reached around 6800.
The new buses include 88 12 meter long electric buses and 112 9 meter long Devi electric buses. After their inclusion, the number of buses in Delhi's public transport fleet will be around 6800. These will include approximately 4938 electric buses and 1750 CNG buses. The government says that the increase in electric buses will help in reducing pollution and providing convenient travel to the people.
Special security arrangements in AC buses, service on Delhi-Karnal route also
The new electric buses will be low-floor and air-conditioned. For the safety of passengers, they have been provided with the facility of CCTV cameras and panic button for help in case of emergency. Apart from this, five new AC electric buses will also be started between Delhi-Karnal. On this 133 kilometer long interstate route, buses will make 10 trips daily in both directions.
