Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband and Indian businessman Raj Kundra has opened up about the divorce rumours that circulated during his time in jail, revealing that the reports caused him severe emotional distress.

In a recent exclusive interview, Kundra spoke about one of the most painful memories from his period in custody and recalled how a media report claiming that Shilpa Shetty was leaving him deeply affected him.

Kundra said that the actress dismissed all the rumours about their divorce and reassured him of her trust and support. Kundra and Shetty got married in 2009 and have remained one of Bollywood’s well-known celebrity couples. Over the years, their relationship has faced considerable public attention, particularly during the period surrounding Kundra’s legal troubles.

In July 2021, Raj Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai Police Crime Branch in connection with allegations of producing and distributing pornographic content through mobile applications. His arrest attracted widespread media attention and became a major controversy in the Indian entertainment industry.

Kundra remained in custody for nearly two months before being granted bail in September 2021. During this period, he faced intense public scrutiny and extensive media coverage.

The businessman later addressed his experiences through cinema as well. In 2023, he made his acting debut with the biographical drama film UT69 which was inspired by his experiences during his time in jail.

His latest comments offer a personal insight into the emotional impact that the divorce rumours had on him during an already difficult chapter of his life. Kundra’s account also highlights the importance of emotional support from loved ones during periods of intense personal and public pressure.
