Lionel Messi added yet another milestone to his remarkable career in a MLS match between Inter Miami and Philadelphia Union on Wednesday.
In the 26th minute, the Argentine superstar scored with a calm left-footed finish to give Miami the lead. Messi's career total now stands at 922 goals after the goal. Additionally, it was his 70th MLS goal and the 13th goal of the 2026 Major League Soccer season, placing him only behind Petar Musa in the league's Golden Boot competition. The goal occurred during a trying time for Messi since his father, Jorge Messi, passed away earlier this month, making the most recent achievement another noteworthy chapter in the 39-year-old's legendary career.

Inter Miami Held To 2-2 Draw Inter Miami's match against Philadelphia Union at Subaru Park ended in a 2-2 draw despite Messi's goal and assist. Indiana Vassilev gave Philadelphia an early lead, but Miami rallied and led at the half. After halftime, Philadelphia tied the score with a header from Jakob Glesnes, but a late goal by Milan Iloski was disallowed for offside following a VAR review. As a result, Philadelphia lost the opportunity to win five straight games, and Miami was unable to snap its three-game losing run. Messi's career now has another incredible chapter thanks to the 922-goal milestone, but his immediate focus will still be helping Inter Miami through the rest of the MLS season. The Argentine continues to compete at the top level and create crucial moments at the age of 39.
