IND vs SL 2nd Test: After India's impressive win in the first Test at Galle, major changes are expected in the squad for the second and final match of the series from August 23 in Colombo. There are reports that 33-year-old off-spinner Samantha Jain could make his debut for India.

The all-rounder from Madhya Pradesh is likely to replace Kuldeep Yadav in the team. Even though India have won the first Test, there has been talk of Kuldeep Yadav still not getting a place in the team. Meanwhile, in the first test, Manav Suthar has once again secured his place by performing amazingly.

According to sources told India Today, Summary Jain Will play in the next match. In the first Test, Kuldeep Yadav could not make much of an impact on a spin-friendly pitch. On a pitch where 15 of Sri Lanka's 20 wickets were taken by the spinners, Kuldeep managed to claim only one wicket. Manav Suthar took 10 wickets and Ravindra Jadeja took four wickets each in both the innings making it difficult for Kuldeep to perform effectively.

Summary Who is Jain?

Born on March 31, 1993 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, Jain has extensive experience in domestic cricket. He made his first-class cricket debut for Madhya Pradesh in the 2014–15 season. His father, Subodh Jain, has also played for Madhya Pradesh in the Ranji Trophy. Initially, Jain wanted to train his elder son, but when he realized that Sarman had more talent, he started training him at Indore's Vijay Club, where Rajat Patidar also played. Patidar later represented India and captained Madhya Pradesh as well as Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL.

The Rise of Summary in Domestic Cricket

When Madhya Pradesh won the 2021–22 Ranji Trophy, Sarman played in the quarter-finals, semi-finals and final and took a total of 13 wickets in the knockout matches. He also scored a crucial 57 runs in the final against Mumbai, helping Madhya Pradesh clinch their maiden Ranji Trophy title. Jain then had an outstanding season in 2022–23, in which he scored 360 runs and took 35 wickets. His all-round performances earned him the Lala Amarnath Award for the best all-rounder in the Ranji Trophy.

Consistent performances led to his selection in the India 'A' squad for the 2024 series against the England Lions, where he scored half-centuries in both innings. Jain further cemented his claim in the 2025 Duleep Trophy. Playing for Central Zone, Kuldeep took 16 wickets in two matches, scored half-centuries in both semi-finals and won the Man of the Series award. This performance has raised hopes that Samarhan Jain could make his debut for India in Colombo.
