Senior officials at La Liga heavyweights Atlético Madrid recently held discussions with their counterparts at Italian side Napoli over a possible player swap agreement.
The talks come amid indications that, before the summer transfer window closes, the two clubs could exchange goalkeepers.
From the Spanish club’s side, the goalkeeper who could be on his way out is Juan Musso. With the Argentine facing the prospect of spending another season as understudy to Jan Oblak, he is understood to be open to returning to Serie A.
If the proposed move goes through, Musso would join Max Allegri’s Napoli, where he would be given the opportunity to establish himself as the first-choice goalkeeper.
Moving in the opposite direction would be Napoli’s first-choice keeper from last season, Vanja Milinković-Savić. According to a report from transfer market insider Fabrizio Romano:
“Napoli and Atlético Madrid have discussed potential swap deal between Juan Musso and Vanja Milinković-Savić. Talks took place with intermediaries but there’s gap in valuation.”
