Kia will be launching its all-new flagship SUV, the Sorento, in India next month. Kia has already opened bookings for the Sorento and has also released multiple teaser videos and images of the SUV. While Kia has not officially unveiled the car yet, we have now come across a set of images of the Sorento that is sold in one of our neighbouring countries. This gives us an idea of what the RHD version of the Sorento SUV could look like.
The images seen here are from one of Kia’s official dealers, Lucky Motor Corp., in Pakistan. On its official website, the dealer has shown what the Sorento looks like and has also listed the features that the SUV comes with. Starting with the exterior, Kia offers the Sorento with a premium and aggressive-looking front-end design. We see a high-gloss, three-dimensional Tiger Nose radiator grille with a brushed aluminium outline. Next to the grille are the vertically positioned Star Map LED DRLs. The LED turn indicators are dual-function units positioned horizontally, while the headlamps are all-LED units and are also vertically stacked.

Like most SUVs, the Sorento also comes with an aggressive-looking bumper with LED fog lamps integrated into the air dam. The side profile of the SUV looks similar to the international version, with machine-cut 19-inch alloy wheels, LED turn indicators integrated into the ORVMs, and an elongated, boxy overall design. At the rear, Kia offers an integrated roof spoiler, vertically positioned LED tail lamps, a muscular-looking rear bumper with a faux skid plate, and Sorento badging.

In Pakistan, Kia offers the Sorento in Sand Brown, Sparkling Silver, Fusion Black, Clear White, and Interstellar Grey colour options. It remains to be seen whether the same colour options will be offered when Kia brings the SUV to India. As we move inside, we see an all-black cabin that looks extremely premium. The first thing one would notice is the massive 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system. A similarly sized digital driver display is also offered with the SUV. Kia calls this setup the “Hexagonal panoramic curved display”. It also gets wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, switchable controls for the climate control and infotainment system, and a UV-protected panoramic sunroof.

The cabin looks spacious and comes with leatherette upholstery. The driver’s seat gets a welcome function and also offers ventilation and heating functions. The seats are electrically adjustable and come with a memory function. Other features include 64-colour ambient lighting, a 12-speaker Bose audio system, a coloured head-up display, a wireless phone charger, remote engine start, a powered tailgate, boss mode, automatic climate control, and more.
As this is a flagship SUV, Kia is also offering Level 2 ADAS along with airbags and other safety features. The SUV gets multiple drive modes, an EV mode, and several other buttons on the centre console. The images seen here are of the models sold in Pakistan. It is possible that Kia might offer lighter-coloured upholstery and a different cabin theme for the Indian market to give it a more premium look and feel.

The Kia Sorento sold in Pakistan gets a 1.6-litre strong-hybrid powertrain with AWD. However, we assume things will be slightly different in India. While we will also get the 1.6-litre turbo-petrol strong-hybrid engine, it is likely to be offered with a FWD configuration only. the PHEV version has a EV only driving range of 66 km. The diesel version with the 2.2-litre engine is likely to get the AWD option. This could help Kia price the Sorento more competitively in the segment.
