Several players could be on their way out of Stamford Bridge after losing their previous squad numbers.
Chelsea have offered a number of transfer clues after confirming their squad shirt numbers for the 2026-27 season.
The Blues are preparing for their first season under new head coach Xabi Alonso, who has already brought in several fresh signings to strengthen his squad.
There are also a number of players the Spaniard is understood to want moved on, in order to create room for further possible arrivals.
The standout alteration is that Joao Pedro has been given the No9 shirt this season, taking it from last summer’s striker signing Liam Delap, who now switches to No12.
That underlines the Brazilian’s status as Alonso’s leading centre-forward for the campaign, something widely expected after he scored 15 goals in 35 Premier League matches last season following his £60million move from Brighton and Hove Albion.
Nicolas Jackson has returned from his loan spell at Bayern Munich, though doubts remain over his long-term future at Stamford Bridge, and he takes the No15 shirt. Meanwhile, new arrival Valentin Barco from sister club Strasbourg has been assigned the No4 shirt, previously worn by Tosin Adarabioyo.
Tosin remains a Chelsea player, but his move to No38 could be another indication that his future may lie away from west London.
Other new additions Morgan Rogers and Danny Welbeck have received No17 and No18 respectively, while Emmanuel Emegha and Geovany Quenda, who also joined this summer after completing their pre-agreed transfers, have been allocated No22 and No23.
Left wing-back Pep Chavarria takes No29, a number previously held by centre-back Wesley Fofana, who has now changed to No3.
Utility defender Marco Palestra has been handed No2, while Maxence Lacroix takes No5, vacated by Benoit Badiashile, who is nearing a loan move to Napoli.
Jordan Henderson has been given No14 following his move from Brentford, while returning winger Mykhailo Mudryk, who wore No10 before his ban, comes back with No33.
