Rahane played most for his games when Shastri was Team India Head Coach, and he revealed how the 64-year-old would give speeches in the dressing room. For a moment, people could mistake him for Ravi Shastri himself just from the voice.

Their Legacies

Rahane called time on his career after not having played an international match since 2023. He is now trying out his hand in commentary and on the expert panel as India take on Sri Lanka in an ongoing Test series. Shastri, other than being a former coach and an esteemed commentator, was also an Indian player. Shastri played for India for most of the 1980s and a bit of the 1990s. He was part of the squad that won the 1983 ODI World Cup.

Coming back to the game, India won on Day 5 by 165 runs to lead the series 1-0. They cannot lose the series and will push for a whitewash when the 2nd Test begins on August 23.
