The State Bank of India (SBI) has announced revised charges for Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) accounts, effective October 1, 2026.
Customers will continue to enjoy four free cash withdrawals per month, but beyond this limit, each transaction will attract a fee of Rs 15 plus GST.
In a public notice, SBI clarified that digital transactions remain free without restrictions, encouraging customers to shift towards online banking. The bank also revised rules for Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AePS) transactions, which will now be counted within the four free monthly transactions.
The announcement comes as SBI reported strong financials in Q1FY27, with net profit rising 10.23% YoY to Rs 21,121 crore, driven by robust loan growth and lower bad‑loan provisions. Net interest income grew 14.9% to Rs 46,992 crore, while operating profit rose 9.8% to Rs 33,529 crore.
On Thursday, SBI shares traded flat at Rs 1,048.05 on the BSE, with a 52‑week high of Rs 1,234.80 and a low of Rs 798.60.
