NDRF engaged in relief work in UP, break on operation of trains from Rambagh; 22 flood posts active in Bhadohi

Prayagraj/Varanasi. Amrit Thoughts. Amidst the floods and waterlogging in Uttar Pradesh, the Yogi government has intensified relief and rescue operations in the affected districts. There is special emphasis on relief work in Lakhimpur Kheri and Ayodhya, while in Prayagraj, NDRF teams are carrying out search and rescue operations in drowning incidents. In view of the rising water level of Ganga in Bhadohi also, the administration has activated flood posts and increased surveillance.

NDRF launched search operation in Prayagraj

In Naini area of ​​Prayagraj, 11th Corps NDRF launched an operation to search for the drowned person. The body was recovered with the help of a deep diver on 18 August. The team appealed to people to exercise caution near rivers, ponds and reservoirs and stay away from areas with strong currents and deep water.

Awareness campaign launched in Varanasi

NDRF in collaboration with Civil Defense organized an awareness program at Dashashwamedh Ghat in Varanasi. Devotees and common people were given information about first aid and CPR along with prevention from disasters like flood, drowning, earthquake and fire. In the programme, information was given about warning of lightning through Damini app and receiving weather and disaster alerts through Sachet app. NDRF appealed to the people to avoid rumours, remain alert and follow the instructions of the administration.

Waterlogging in Prayagraj, operation of trains affected from Rambagh

Due to torrential rains in Prayagraj for the last several days, the tracks and yards of Rambagh station of North Eastern Railway have been waterlogged. Due to this, trains starting and ending from Rambagh station are currently being operated from Jhunsi station. According to Sumit Kumar, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Eastern Railway, Rambagh station is located in a low-lying area and the yard is flooded. Efforts to drain the water are continuing. Four passenger trains originating and terminating at Rambagh are currently operating from Jhunsi.

Meanwhile, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Central Railway, Dr. Shivam Sharma said that there is no information about waterlogging at Prayagraj Junction, Naini and Chhivki stations and trains from these stations are running on time. Waterlogging persists in many low-lying areas of Prayagraj. The district administration and municipal corporation are making efforts for drainage. Allahabad High Court has also taken suo motu cognizance of waterlogging in the city and directed the district administration and the Municipal Corporation to make proper arrangements for drainage.

22 flood posts active in Bhadohi

In view of the rising water level of Ganga, Bhadohi district administration has intensified preparations to deal with the flood. Additional District Magistrate and Disaster Officer-in-charge Shubhangi Shukla inspected the flood posts established at various places including Chhichua, Dhantulsi, coastal areas of Ganga. Officials took stock of the water level of Ganga, possible flood situation and relief and rescue preparations. According to the district administration, 22 flood posts have been activated in the district to monitor the floods. Information about deployment of employees and resources at these posts was also taken.

Health department deployed rapid response teams

In view of possible floods, the Health Department has deployed rapid response teams in the respective development blocks to prevent water-borne diseases. Adequate quantities of essential medicines have also been made available. According to the administration, on August 19, the water level of Ganga river was recorded at 75.52 meters. The water level and the situation in the coastal areas are being continuously monitored. The administration has appealed to the people not to go unnecessarily to the river Ganga and the surrounding low-lying and coastal areas. Also, it has been asked to immediately inform the concerned tehsil administration about any emergency situation.
