New Delhi, 20 August 2026: Trisa Jolie and Gayatri Gopichand have reached the quarterfinals of women's doubles of the BWF Badminton World Championship being held in New Delhi. The Indian pair defeated Japan's seventh-ranked pair of Rin Iwanaga and Ki Nakanishi in straight sets 21-16, 21-12.
While talking to the media after the match, Gayatri and Trisa said that they had understood the strategy of their opponents in the first two-three points. He explained that he had adopted an aggressive game in the latter half of the first game and maintained the same strategy in the second game also, which proved beneficial for him.
P.V. Many great players of India including Sindhu will play their pre-quarter final matches today. Ninth ranked Sindhu will face third ranked Wang Zi Yi of China. Young player Ayush Shetty will play against 11th ranked Alvi Farhan of Indonesia.
In men's doubles, fifth-ranked pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty will face Malaysian pair of Junaidhi Arif and Roy King Yap. On the other hand, in mixed doubles, the pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Craston will play against China's Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui.
