Manchester City are moving in the market to bring in a replacement.
Tottenham have received a further lift in their pursuit of Savinho, with reports indicating that Manchester City are working on a deal for a successor.
Standard Sport understands that Spurs are in discussions with Manchester City over Savinho, as well as his Etihad Stadium team-mate Omar Marmoush, as they aim to strengthen their forward line.
Although nothing has yet been completed before Tottenham’s opening match of the new Premier League season against Brentford, momentum is building around the proposed double move and there now appears to have been a fresh breakthrough.
Palmeiras, however, are keen to keep hold of the 22-year-old, whose release clause at Arena Palmeiras stands at €100million (£85m).
Elias has previously been linked with Liverpool and is widely viewed as the next major Palmeiras sale, following the departures of Endrick and Estevao to Real Madrid and Chelsea respectively in recent years.
If Manchester City can strike an agreement for the winger, it is believed that the path will then be clear for Savinho to complete a move to north London.
Savinho has been on Tottenham’s radar for a long time after the club were unable to land the winger last summer.
Having slipped down the pecking order under former City manager Pep Guardiola, Savinho made it clear that he wanted to leave the club. He was then omitted from new head coach Enzo Maresca’s squad for last weekend’s Community Shield defeat to Arsenal after missing training through illness.
