Charges After Four Withdrawals: If your bank account is in State Bank of India (SBI) and you withdraw cash several times a month, then this news is useful for you. SBI has changed the rules for withdrawing cash from Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) accounts. These new rules will come into effect from 1 October 2026. After this, customers may have to pay a fee for withdrawing cash more than the prescribed limit.
What will change from October 1?
From October 1, 2026, the first four cash withdrawals every month from the BSBD account will be free. If a customer withdraws cash even after this, he may have to pay a fee of Rs 15 on extra withdrawal. Along with this fee, applicable GST will also have to be paid. In the new rules, the facility of keeping digital transactions beyond the limit of four free withdrawals has also been removed.
What is BSBD account?
BSBD i.e. Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account is a savings account, which has been created to provide banking facilities with low or no extra fees. The customer is not required to maintain minimum balance in this account. This account is especially useful for those who want to avail general banking services at low charges.
What are the features of SBI BSBD account?
Basic RuPay ATM-cum-Debit Card is given to the customers in BSBD account of SBI. There is no annual maintenance fee for this card. Customers can withdraw money through branch or ATM. Generally check book facility is not available in this account. Whereas, no fees are charged for depositing money through electronic means like NEFT and RTGS. Apart from this, no fee is charged for re-opening a closed account.
