SBI New Rule 2026: If your account is in State Bank of India (SBI) and you go to the bank branch and withdraw cash whenever needed, then this news is useful for you. SBI has informed about the change in the rules to cash withdrawal, which will be applicable from October 1, 2026. After the new rule, some account holders may have to pay additional charges for withdrawing money from the branch more than the prescribed number of times in a month.

After all, what is going to change?

According to the new rules of SBI, cash withdrawal from Basic Savings Bank Deposit (BSBD) Account by visiting the bank branch will be free up to four times in a month.

After this, if the customer withdraws cash from the branch for the fifth time in the same month, then additional charges will have to be paid. That is, if you withdraw money from such an account repeatedly through the branch, then after October 1, you will have to keep an eye on the number of your withdrawals.

How much will have to be paid for withdrawing money for the fifth time?

Additional branch cash withdrawals after completion of four free withdrawals will be charged at ₹15 per transaction plus GST. For example, if a customer withdraws money from the branch four times in a month and then withdraws cash for the fifth time, this charge will be applicable on the fifth withdrawal.

Every SBI customer will not have to pay this charge (SBI New Rule 2026)

The most important thing here is that this change does not mean that new charges are going to be imposed on every savings account of SBI.

This rule is to BSBD i.e. Basic Savings Bank Deposit Account. Therefore, if you have a normal savings account in SBI, then there is no need to panic after reading this news. Please check the type of your account first.

What changed for those withdrawing money from ATM?

If you withdraw money from BSBD account through ATM, then the new branch withdrawal rule should not be considered as directly applicable to ATM.

In this change of SBI, cash withdrawal from the branch has been looked at separately. The charges and free transaction conditions applicable on ATMs, ATMs of other banks and other mediums will remain as per their respective rules. Therefore, on the basis of this news alone, it would not be right to assume that from October 1, there will be a charge of ₹ 15 for withdrawing money from the ATM even for the fifth time.
