Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday announced that the Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has decided to set up a bench of the Jammu and Kashmir High Court in Ladakh. Shah said that this decision will make it much easier for citizens living in remote areas of Ladakh to get justice. He said that the establishment of High Court Benches would reduce the time taken by people to avail legal services. The Home Minister said that the Central Government is fully committed to the overall development of Ladakh.
The establishment of High Court Benches will make it easier for the people of Ladakh to get justice. Especially people living in remote areas no longer have to travel far for legal matters. This will save both time and effort and the cases are expected to be resolved quickly. The government says the decision is aimed at providing better judicial facilities to the people of Ladakh. In other news, the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court has declared a holiday for the Hon’ble Court on August 26, 2026. Instead, December 19, 2026 has been designated as the working day. According to a notification issued by the Registrar General of the High Court, August 25, 2026, which was earlier declared a holiday on the occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH), will now be a “non-sitting day” for the Hon’ble Court.
