Kanpur. Under the leadership of Sushil Soni, District President of Congress Seva Dal Kanpur Nagar Rural Committee, a grand program was organized today to commemorate the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna late Rajiv Gandhi at Niteshwar Ashram located in Banpurwa of Bithoor Assembly. The program was started by Late. Tributes were paid to Rajiv Gandhi by garlanding his portrait. After this, trees were planted giving the message of environmental protection.
On this occasion, saplings of various species including Peepal, Belpatra, Guava, Neem, Banyan were planted. State President of Seva Dal Bundelkhand Zone Laxmi Narayan Dixit was present as the chief guest in the program. In his address, he said that Rajiv Gandhi ji took the country towards the 21st century and gave a new direction to the youth. Only by following his ideals can we serve the country and society. He also described tree plantation as the biggest need of the day and appealed to everyone to plant as many trees as possible.
