Batwara 1947 Director Rajkumar Santoshi Says Aamir Khan Never Interferes During Making: Log Galat Bolte Hai – EXCL

Rajkumar Santoshi’s latest directorial venture, Batwara 1947, did a moderate business at the box office. The film stars Sunny Deol, Shabana Azmi and Preity Zinta in the lead roles. Aamir Khan has produced the film which clashed with Emraan Hashmi’s Awarapan 2. Recently, in an exclusive interaction with Zoom, Rajkumar Santoshi confessed that Aamir Khan never interferes during the making. Moreover, he also opened up about his rift with Sunny Deol. Rajkumar Santoshi further revealed he has been working on Batwara 1947 since 2008. For the unversed, the Partition drama has collected Rs 33.60 crore at the box office in the first week.
Rajkumar Santoshi Defends Aamir Khan
During a candid chat with us, rubbished the reports about Aamir Khan interfering creatively during the making of the film. In fact, he said that he would give his input to make the film better. Rajkumar said, “I respect Aamir Khan as a person, actor, director and creative man. We always wanted to work together. We never debate. We always agree on the same thing. I have directed Batwara 1947, but Aamir has also contributed to the film creatively.”
“He has given his inputs into the screenplay, background music, editing and everything. He never interferes. People say wrong things about him. He will act more like an assistant director. I am looking forward to collaborating with him again,” the director added.

Rajkumar Santoshi On Batwara 1947 Making And Rift With Sunny Deol
Rajkumar Santoshi has delivered some of the blockbusters like Ghayal, Damini and Ghatak with . However, after Ghatak, the duo didn’t work together for a long time. When asked about the same, the Andaz Apna Apna director said, “We have always been good friends. We kept interacting with each other over the years. We had decided to make this film in 2008-2009 after watching the play. After Ghatak, we were looking for an interesting subject which should inspire me and others. We never wanted to repeat the same thing.”
The director revealed that they wanted to make a film on partition, but the producers and distributors were demanding that they make an action film. Rajkumar Santoshi further revealed, “We wanted to make a film on this subject, but the producers and distributors wanted us to make an action film. We were waiting for the right time and producer. Fortunately, Gadar 2 worked, and then, we immediately decided to make Batwara 1947. showed his interest because he knew the story. He decided to produce the film.”
When asked about his rift with Sunny Deol, Rajkumar said, “The difference between us was not that strong. He was busy with his work, and I was busy with my work. We would always meet and plan to work on something.”
