Brahma Temple: Pushkar is not famous only because of one temple, but its entire religious geography is associated with Lord Brahma. According to mythological beliefs, a lotus petal had fallen on earth from the hand of Lord Brahma. At the place where that petal fell, a huge lake was formed, which we know today as 'Pushkar Sarovar'. After this, Lord Brahma had resolved to perform a great yagya at this very place. The Chaturmukhi (four-faced) statue of Lord Brahma installed in the temple and the red colored peak are the hallmarks of this pilgrimage.

Lack of temples and curse of Savitri:

The question arises that when Lord Brahma is one of the Trinity, then why are his temples so few? In religious beliefs, the most popular story behind this is the curse of Goddess Savitri.
It is said that the auspicious time of Yagya was approaching in Pushkar, but Brahma ji's wife Savitri ji could not reach there on time. The Yagya could not be completed without a wife, so Lord Brahma married a girl named Gayatri and completed the rituals by making her sit with him in the Yagya.

When Goddess Savitri reached there and saw someone else in her place, she became extremely angry. He cursed Lord Brahma that he would be worshiped only at very limited places in the whole world. However, later when the anger subsided, he considered Pushkar to be an exception to this curse. This is the reason why Pushkar is considered the most important center of worship of Lord Brahma.

Relationship between Savitri and Gayatri:

In this story, Goddess Savitri is the main wife of Brahma ji, while Gayatri ji became his companion to perform that special yagya. Even today this tradition seems to be alive in Pushkar. The temple of Goddess Savitri is situated on the Ratnagiri hill of Pushkar, from where a beautiful view of the entire Pushkar city and the lake is visible.

Tips for first-time travelers to Pushkar:

If you are planning to visit Pushkar for the first time, do not return after just visiting the temple. There is a special sequence to understand Pushkar truly:
