BCB President Tamim Iqbal has indicated that both the cricket boards are in talks regarding the dates and schedule of the series. In such a situation, questions are being raised on whether the India-Bangladesh series to be held in September 2026 will be organized as scheduled.

The Indian cricket team is to tour Bangladesh next month. According to the proposed schedule, three ODI and three T20 international matches are to be played between the two teams. However, there has been no official confirmation from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) regarding the tour yet. Now the statement of Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Tamim Iqbal has made this whole matter more interesting.

The tour is to start from 3rd September

According to the schedule released by BCB, the first match of the ODI series between India and Bangladesh is proposed to be played on 3 September 2026. After this, two more ODI and three T20 matches are to be played between the two teams. However, at present the final schedule of this series is not clear. After the release of the schedule of another cricket tournament in Bangladesh, new speculations have started regarding India's tour.

What did Tamim Iqbal say?

During a press conference in Dhaka, when Tamim Iqbal was asked a question about the tour of India, he said that both the boards are continuously discussing this series. According to him, some changes are possible in the program. Tamim indicated that after the dates of the India-Bangladesh series are decided, the schedule of other domestic tournaments to be held in Bangladesh can also be changed as per the need. It is clear from this that BCB is still waiting for the final situation regarding the tour of India.

This tour of India has been postponed earlier also. It was originally scheduled to be held in August 2025, but the schedule was later changed. After this, a tour was proposed for three ODIs and three T20 matches in September 2026. There is a lot of curiosity about this series among the cricket fans of both the countries, but due to security and political circumstances, there is uncertainty regarding the program.

There was tension in the relations between BCCI and BCB

There was tension in India-Bangladesh cricket relations in the recent past. During IPL 2026, a controversy came to light regarding Bangladesh's fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman. After his exit from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), there were many discussions regarding the relationship between the two cricket boards.

After this, Bangladesh Cricket Board had also taken a tough stance regarding its participation in the T20 World Cup jointly hosted by India and Sri Lanka. However, after Tamim Iqbal became the BCB president, there have been signs of improvement in communication between the two boards.
