New Delhi: A 19-year-old B.Sc Nursing student associated with Sir Ganga Ram Hospital allegedly died by suicide after hanging herself inside her hostel room in Delhi's Rajinder Nagar area.
The incident took place under the jurisdiction of Rajinder Nagar Police Station in Central Delhi. Police reached the spot after receiving information and started an investigation into the matter.
The deceased has been identified as Yukta, a resident of Najafgarh. She was pursuing her third year of B.Sc Nursing.
Student Declared Dead at Hospital
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central District) Rohit Rajbir Singh, preliminary investigation suggests that the student took the extreme step by hanging herself in her hostel room.
A police team from Rajinder Nagar Police Station immediately reached the location after receiving information. The student was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead.
Police Investigating Reason Behind Suicide
Police officials said the exact reason behind the suicide is yet to be established. A crime team was called to the hostel room to collect evidence. Investigators are examining details to the student's hostel stay, personal contacts and circumstances before the incident.
Her mobile phone, personal belongings and other available evidence are being analyzed. Police are also questioning fellow hostel residents and other people connected with the student as part of the investigation.
