Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday took an aggressive stance on the alleged use of pellet guns during student protests in Delhi. Rahul Gandhi staged a sit-in outside the Parliament Street Police Station along with Sahil Lochav, a student who was injured by a pellet gun during the protest. Their major demand included filing an FIR in the case and taking action against the culprits.

It was alleged that the police used pellet guns during a student march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on July 20. Some students including Sahil Lochav were injured in this incident. Sahil's family had said that his eye was seriously injured. However, the Delhi Police had initially denied the allegations of using pellet guns on the protesters.

Against this backdrop, Rahul Gandhi went to the police station along with the injured student and demanded to lodge a complaint. As the FIR was not filed immediately by the police, they started a sit-in outside the police station. During this protest, Rahul Gandhi questioned the role of the police and demanded strict action against the culprits.

After Rahul Gandhi's dharna, Delhi Police finally prepared to file an FIR on the complaint. According to available reports, it has also been revealed that an FIR has been registered on Sahil Lochav's pellet gun injury complaint.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the matter was already underway. The Delhi Police had sought information from the CRPF on whether pellet guns or other crowd control devices were used. Therefore, the issue of alleged police action in student protest has become more serious.
