The upward trend in gold prices continues across the country. On the morning of August 22, the price of 24-carat gold in the capital, Delhi, rose to ₹1,60,640 per 10 grams. In Mumbai, the price stands at ₹1,60,490 per 10 grams. Price increases are being observed in other cities as well. A weak US dollar and a strong trend in global markets have boosted investment in precious metals. A day earlier, gold and silver prices in Delhi's bullion market had reached a more than three-month high.
In the international market, spot gold is trading at $4,600.91 per ounce. Moves by the US Treasury to increase the buyback of long-term securities pushed bond yields down and weakened the US dollar, providing a boost to gold prices. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has indicated that he might further increase the Treasury's government repurchase operations.
