Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal strongly objected to Congress MP Deepender Hooda’s recent statement in which Deepender Hooda described Sajjan Kumar, a prime accused in the 1984 anti-Sikh massacre and a killer of Sikhs, as his role model and called him a good human being. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said Deepender Hooda’s disgusting and insensitive statement had deeply hurt and wounded the entire Sikh community.
AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal, “Deepender Hooda describing Sajjan Kumar, a killer of Sikhs, as his role model and a good human being has deeply hurt and wounded the entire Sikh community. Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge, senior leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi must immediately expel Deepender Hooda from the party without any delay. There should be no place in any political party for leaders who rub salt into the wounds of the victims of 1984.”
The AAP Chief Spokesperson stated, “Deepender Hooda is defending those responsible for the killing of Sikhs and the Congress leadership could not remain silent on such a statement. The Congress central leadership must take immediate action against Deepender Hooda.”
At the same time, he questioned the silence of Punjab Congress leaders and challenged them to demonstrate where they stood on the issue. “Punjab Congress leaders should come out on the streets against Deepender Hooda’s statement and demand his expulsion from the Congress central leadership. Punjab Congress leaders should prove their morality by taking to the streets against Deepender Hooda’s statement and demanding Deepender Hooda’s expulsion,” he added.
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said, “If Punjab Congress leaders remain silent on this issue or do not oppose Deepender Hooda, it will be assumed that they too support Deepender Hooda’s anti-Sikh mindset.”
The AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson said this was not the first incident in which the anti-Sikh face of the Congress had come to the fore. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal recalled that photographs of several senior Congress leaders with Jagdish Tytler, another accused in the massacre of Sikhs, had earlier gone viral.
“This clearly shows that the Congress party has always patronised and honoured the killers of Sikhs. Describing a person like Sajjan Kumar as a role model is an insult to the victims and their families. The only appropriate step is to immediately expel Deepender Hooda from the Congress,” said Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal.
Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal reiterated that the Congress leadership must act without delay and send a clear message that those who defend the killers of Sikhs have no place in the party. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal also called upon Punjab Congress leaders to break their silence and publicly oppose Deepender Hooda’s statement.
