Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami says over 200 corrupt individuals have been sent behind bars under the state’s zero-tolerance policy, highlighting the 1064 helpline and stronger vigilance action.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has emphasized the stand taken by his government on corruption by stating that more than 200 people alleged to be corrupt have been put behind bars owing to the state’s zero-tolerance stance against corruption.
The Chief Minister further stressed that any measures against corruption will not consider the status or rank of an individual.
Zero Tolerance on Corruption: Dhami Government’s Strong Stance
According to the statement made by CM Dhami, the government’s policy of zero tolerance is being followed in practice and is not limited to mere statements alone. As per his statement, officials or employees indulged in corruption have been punished irrespective of their status in the administrative hierarchy.
The aim of the government with this measure is to ensure transparency and accountability on the part of the officials with whom citizens interact in public offices.
The state government has also emphasized the importance of vigilance action in bribery cases. The arrest of Haridwar’s District Supply Officer and an assistant in a bribery case in January 2026 was given as an example of the anti-corruption campaign.
Uttarakhand 1064 Helpline: A Means of Public Complaints
According to the Chief Minister, the 1064 anti-corruption helpline is a vital means of complaint by citizens against corruption. According to the Uttarakhand government website, the Vigilance Helpline 1064 is one of the public services provided by the government.
It has been devised in order to give the citizens a medium for reporting any alleged corruption. Complaints of any demands of bribe or corruption in general can be reported to the Vigilance department through the helpline.
Action Taken Against Junior and Senior Staff
According to Dhami, the cases of corruption are not decided on the basis of the designation of the employees. He has clarified that action has been taken against people who have indulged themselves in corruption regardless of whether they are junior or senior.
In reviewing the 1064 helpline in March 2025, the Chief Minister had directed government officials to investigate complaints thoroughly and take strict action wherever allegations proved true. In this case, the government stated that it had caught 66 people in a trap and arrested 72 individuals who were accused of corrupt practices during the past three years.
Protecting complainants and coordination among departments and the Vigilance department was another emphasis made in the review.
Good Governance and Accountability Are Key Areas of Focus
Dhami said that the government’s work has paved the way for good governance and accountability. The government has also concentrated on addressing the complaints against corruption and strengthening vigilance action.
In reviewing the year 2025, government officials were directed to point out those departments that have received many complaints about corruption and find out the reason behind such complaints. The government also talked about transfers of individuals who had worked in the same department for a long time.
The new statement by CM Dhami has again made clear the government’s message of continuing its campaign against corruption with its zero-tolerance policy.
